Lincoln

Released July 4th, 2023

Lincoln, the 2nd out of, so far, 3 President-related albums made for America month.
This album was probably one of the most fun ones to make, but like, one of my least favorites in terms of music. A lot of this has to do with the song length.
Because of my at the time aversion to making songs too repetitive, I decided to "allow songs to end" where I felt like they "should." This led to the complete opposite problem of the one that I was trying to avoid. Instead of songs overstaying their welcome, I instead made songs that weren't long enough to be properly fleshed out... except Injustice For All, which I made in one day before the album came out with the specific goal of just making a song longer than my previous longest song. It's actually one of my favorites, surprisingly.
Besides that one, I always loved, Abra (Later remixed an extended to BLT President as "Ham"), Officers of the Thinking Laws, and 6 Foot Four BILLION.
It should be noted that while this was released on the 4th of July, that wasn't planned until I realized I had all the songs "done" to the extent at which I wanted them to be.
Abra is great. You gotta love the synths plus the static it's just amazing. The BLT President version is just way better though.
History is Broken sets up basically all the story that you need to understand this album. Someone fucked up history and now Lincoln was a dictator and you live in a dystopia now. It actually does some cool stuff, with the piano thing and the guitar sort of clashing against each other. Somehow I managed to make it the one repetitive song off this album though.
Basically, the entire premise of this album was to experiment as much as possible and to repeat myself across songs the least. It was because I felt like I was getting a bit dry with the "formula" that I felt was forming from There's NO Saving this One. Basically I was starting to hate just slapping together the guitars and drums and pianos and sometimes other synths to make something. I felt like that was running dry. 0x800701E3 Proved otherwise, though.
Blocker, formerly labeled as "Hecker," until being changed to be named after the DK64 character, is the most chaotic song off this album... It's basically a Racecar Spelled Backwards song. In fact it was the inspiration for most of that album. It does some cool stuff that I love.
Panic Please has some cool space brass synth thing that's cool. Then it nosedives but ngl I'm kinda all here for it why the fuck not?
Song Number 228, Inspired by 36 by System of a Down (this is the 228th song in my discography, that was their 36th). This one sucks but it randomly got 600 views one day across the Topic and manual uploads. It is now my, sigh, most popular song.
Me the Person, one of my favorite titles, like ever. This one's boring and empty though... Nevermind there's the outro which has a really cool breakdown.
Officers of the thinking laws is amazing with the static. This one kept getting fucked up in the exporting process though because the automation tracks would switch the static off time so I had to rearrange how it functioned by making the two statics separate instruments. No big deal. Then I interpolate Yankee Doodle at the end and then changed it a bit so it's a bit less cheesy. This song just sounds absolutely epic just because of the space brassy-synths in it, and I don't use the "e" word often.
losa who uses nunchucks is about guitarist Buckethead. I've had this song in the works since Mzmr. Well, just the intro, I didn't have any ideas after that. But then I started cooking a bit. This one's actually kinda good.
6 Foot Four BILLION YASSSS I LOVE THIS ONE. It's so arcadey, so vegas gambley, so rocky, it's amazing. Stuff like that is why this experiment was actually so worthwhile. Title's in reference to Lincoln's height btw (without the hat ofc). I've used that synth a lot since making this song and it's one of the best things to come out of this album.
Freedumb I completely forgot existed until revisting this album just now. The synths are familiar though, it's actually kinda a calm song. Who cares though. Then the outro comes, this is actually kinda cool.
Injustice for All uses a reverb setting that I have been using a lot for Apocalypse Weekend. This song's honestly standard Lyup stuff for the time, very No Saving this One-esque. But for the length and reverb experiment alone that sets it apart a lot. I think this song was very inspired by the song by The Fall of Troy, "What Sound does a Mastodon Make?"
I think this song is the perfect end for this album, Imagine if this album ended on Freedumb? It's honestly great that I made this song last minute. The synth usage and accoustic guitar usage and the drum usage and reverb usage is awesome. This song does get a bit earrapey at times, though.
I like the art for this album, background is kinda lazy though but it's kinda fitting since it was me just experimenting with a thing that I just found out I could do, which basically sums up the entire album if you ask me.
