There is NO Saving This One

Released June 12th, 2023

This album, inspired heavily by The Fall of Troy's Ghostship demos, is likely my favorite of the pre-bass Lyup albums. A vast majority of the songs are actually really good. Whenever I listen to lyup on my Spotify playlist so that I get money from ads I always enjoy listening to the tracks off this album. I like the art but not on the Spotify release the Spotify release one (the one pictured here) is just trash because I had to replace it with square art and I couldn't crop it without cropping the text.
before the album released, actually, there was no spotlight. I added it and felt like it added a lot.
Also the 3D model came with Paint 3D lmaooo.
Anyways the first song is basically directly inspired by TFOT's Ghostship Part I. I like this song a lot but listening back it does get a bit ear-rapey at times.
The next one is a bit chill and I like it. Reminds me of Minecraft music. That nylon guitar synth is awesome. I think I cut it off too early without a fadeout tho.
The next was kinda Korn-inspired. I don't like it that much though cuz it's boring and empty and it didn't even have the Korn-inspired effect I wanted.
The fourth song was inspired by the Pinkly Smooth demo track 6 known as "Space Moose." I think this one I came up with the drum shit just by banging on the thick science desks in class one time. That's how I came up with a lot of Drum stuff for this album and the previous one, actually. The tempo changes in this song are awesome holy fuck. It makes this song so much more fresh and unique to listen to.
Tell me now is fucking awesome, nothing more to be said.
Progressive Psychopathy was definitely very System of a Down inspired. My brother told me a story of this album being released and my other brother was like "Oh new lyup," started playing the whole thing and was like "Oh wow this is really good" and then the static intro came on and he was like "...and then they did this" lmao.
There are parts of this song that are awesome. I actually loved making it because I like making really long songs. Listening back to it though it's kinda boring at certain parts, and the bass synth that I used for just this one song is just bad. But the parts that are good are awesome.
Keep me up is a BANGERRRRRR. You gotta fucking love the dissonance and the drumming. This song kinda makes it obvious how Fall Rains Down Tonight came from this album.
Track 8 is in reference to something someone said to me. It's actually great. I like this song a lot. It's definitely a better "proggy" song than the 6th song. The piano bridge is taken from another scrapped song called Spill. I'm gonna do something with that song soon though >:). I think I wrote literally all the drums to this song first which is why it goes so damn hard. It made it hard to write anything else for it though.
The 9th song sucks by design, I don't know why I released it. It's not that bad though to be honest. This album had a lot of scrapped songs that I simply just didn't do anything with beyond a couple of measures. This song should've stayed as one of them though.
I wish I didn't put BEEPBOX in the title of this song, but I do like it a bit. I like the chaos that comes from it having a fuckton of instruments, someone left a comment citing that as a problem though so I stopped doing that. Sounds like Geometry Dash music.
No offense was me playing with features of the synth I was using. Sounds incredibly fucking earrapey because I was just bad at making sounds sound good. I think I'm better at that now... I hope... The melody is good I just can't listen to it because it fucking pierces my eardrum.
Track 12, I think the intro was just made to push it over the 2 minute mark lol. Pretty good song I just wish the guitar part was used in the rest of the song. There are parts where the song feels awkward though.
Only time, I don't remember what my idea behind this one was. Sounds surprisingly good though. The piano/guitar part before the outro tho holy SHIT!
The title track... what was the title of this album in reference to? I think it was because I didn't have album art and I just made a really bad album art and I was like "Yea there's no saving this one." The original album art sucked. This song is great though. This probably would've been the last track if it wasn't for the next one, though. This wouldn't have been a good last track lol. I like it though, I made the distorted guitar synth sound sad somehow.
SOS, which I made last minute, originally called Save Me to make an A7x reference before realizing I was throwing away a perfect title, was made, I think, because I had a really really good idea. And then I came up with even BETTER ideas like the deep piano part holy shit that's amazing. THE DRUM PARTS ARE AMAZING AT PARTS TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AHHHHHH. Something I did really good at this time was overlapping guitar riffs with single note sustains. I did that a lot this album and it was really good too. The synth parts are actually great in this song too. ESPECIALLY AT 4:29 HOLY SHIT HOW DID I COOK THAT HARD??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?! And then the guitar part repeating it but sustaining over itself is amazing. And then the rain outro is amazing with the drums that are reverberated, the inspiration for that came from TFOT's finished version of the Ghostship demos, Phantom on the Horizon. So I guess it's full circle, isn't it?
So yea, all in all, this album is pretty good, that last song is fucking amazing tho listen to it. Ok bye.
